Hummus is a chickpea spread from the Middle East and makes for a wonderful protein rich snack that combats hunger and balances blood sugar levels. You can opt to have your hummus with veggies.

Hummus contains iron which boosts energy and red bell pepper slices are high in vitamin C.

You can make a simple hummus by throwing 1 can of chickpeas in a blender with a dash of ground cumin, sea salt, extra virgin olive oil and a splash of lemon juice. You can store hummus batches in the freezer.



Salsa is low in calories and you can buy it in the refrigerated section of a supermarket where it will be the freshest. You can make salsa is a delicious snack by layering hummus at the bottom of the dish, layering salsa and then topping with lettuce or olives. Instead of chips go for healthy crackers.






When it comes to eggs its best to eat the whites and the yolks as half the protein is found in the yolks. The proteins that are found in yolks stimulate the release of glucagon which helps in fat burning and helps to fight off belly fat.

Almonds are rich in vitamin E and antioxidants that counteract free radical damage. This makes almonds great for your hair and skin, but they are also rich in magnesium and vitamin B2 which helps to combat stress.

Chia Seeds are rich in omega 3 fatty acids, calcium and iron and are perfect for weight loss because they act as sponge. They are able to absorb sugar and stabilise blood sugar levels.

These tiny seeds are able to hold up to twenty times their weight in water. You can add them to unsweetened chocolate almond milk or to oatmeal.

Parmesan Cheese

Having a block of Parmesan cheese around is great to have when shedding the pounds. Parmesan is a full flavoured cheese so you don’t much to make a delicious snack.







Yogurt is full of probiotics which help to reduce the fat your body absorbs. Go for Greek low fat or no fat yogurt as these contain half the sodium and there are artificial sweeteners or preservatives.
